Earlier, it was Wesley College who were in an inconvenienced situation after a disciplinary hearing by the SLSRFA slapped a year ban on one of the Wesley players and also penalized the players who were on the bench as they entered the field during the scuffle that took place.

Is the one year ban given to Wesley player for shoulder charge a deserved punishment?

Let me just say right off the bat that I am currently working with the Wesley Rugby Committee..

This decision comes after Wesley College appealed to the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association regarding the verdict and the governing body has taken the appeal into consideration, taking the necessary steps to reduce the punishment.

Speaking to ThePapare, Secretary of the SLSRFA Denzil Darling added that the 1-year ban inflicted on the player who late-charged his opponent will be reduced to a three-match ban and the 2-match suspension that was slapped on to the 6 players on the bench will be reduced to a one-match ban. This means that these players will be available for the S. Thomas’ College encounter this week.

However, the two players who gestured will be having their three-match ban and will have to serve their term and their ban has not been reduced.
