Sri Lanka’s Rajeev Rajapakse and Harshana Godamanna could not hold back the Pakistan pair of as Aisam Qureshi and Aqeel Khan in the doubles segment of the Davis cup worked off at SLTA today.
The Pakistan due beat the Sri Lankan pair 6/2, 6/7, 2/6, 6/3 and 6/2 in a thrilling contest which gave Pakistan a 2-1 lead in this leg of the competition. The Sri Lanka pair fought bravely going down by 3 sets to two.
In yesterday’s singles contest Pakistan took one singles event and together with today’s doubles win puts them ahead of the home country.
Sri Lankans who are in Group II has to do well on the 3rd day to win both reverse singles games in order to be promoted to Group I.
