Four matches in the Singer Schools U-19 Division I two-day cricket tournament 2017/18 conducted today around the island.

DS Senanayake College vs Bandaranayake College

After having all the honors in the opening day, DS Senanayake boys played positive cricket to end the day on high. In-form left hander Vihan Gunasekara followed up his 1st innings heroics and stroked another half-ton to extend the lead up to 220 before DS Senanayake College decided to declare their innings.

Chasing 221 to win, the Gampaha lads never got going as the wickets tumbled and they got bowled out for a disappointing 128 as the Dons complete a resounding 93 run win in the group ‘A’ encounter which ended at Bandaragama grounds.

Resuming on 23 for none, the visitors took control and looked like chasing down 181. However, right-arm off spinner Lasith Croospulle bought out his bag of tricks to claim 5 scalps to restrict the lads from Matara for 175. Maris Stella College satisfied to a 1st innings win in the traditional encounter which ended in Kadirana.

The traditional encounter was delayed due to heavy rains and got underway in the last session. The hosts declared their innings and gave the lads from Galle a chance to bat. But rain continued to spoil the action as the game ended in a no result at Moratuwa.

Been asked to bat first the Richmondites posted 225 for 9 in the traditional encounter which commenced today at Galle International Stadium. Left-hander Avindu Theekshana was the star for the lads from Galle as he stroked a classy half-ton to end the day in favor of Richmond College.
