In a day full of Singer Schools U15 Division (A) matches, here are few concluded results.

Vidyartha College (A), Kandy vs Trinity College (A), Kandy

It was a one sided match today at the hill capital where Vidyartha met Trinity for their Singer Schools U15 Division (A) group ‘L’ 01 day 4 innings match at Galagedara Grounds. The toss was won by Trinity and the decision was unlucky when they invited Vidyartha to bat first.

Vidyartha College batted the whole day for 79 overs and scored 228 runs for the loss of 8 wickets when they stopped play for bad light.  Kumuditha Perera scored a brilliant 82 runs to be the top scorer for Vidyartha while Ranudha Somarathne grabbed 5 wickets for 56 runs. The match ended up in a draw.

Thurstan College (A), Colombo vs St. Benedics College (A), Colombo

Another group stage match at Singer Schools U15 Division (A) group ‘B’ was played between the home team Thurstan College vs St. Benedicts College which ended in a draw. The visitors won the toss and invited the home team to bat first. Thurstan taking advantage of home conditions put up a decent score on board before they were all out for 270 runs in 66.4 overs. Thenura Shamikya scored 73 runs and Jaidu Peiris scored 42 which were the highlight of the inning, when Banula Perera chipped 5 wickets for 56 runs to wrap up the Thurstan batting line up.

St. Benedicts managed to score only 165 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 28 overs and play was called off due to bad light. Ashen De Zoysa scored 54 runs not out and Adeesha Randika scored 49 runs, the highest scores while Isuru Dilhara took 2 wickets for 30 runs. The match ended up in a draw.

Bandaranayake College (A), Gampaha vs St. Mary’s College (A), Kegalle

It was another no result match at Gampaha today when Bandaranayake met St. Mary’s College for their Singer Schools U15 Division (A) group L match. Visitors winning the toss, invited the home team to bat first and bowled them out for 144 runs in 55.5 overs. Dulan Chandrarathne was the highest runs scorer for the team putting up 56 runs not out on board while Thilakarathne and Thilakshana took 3 wickets each, 3 for 17 and 2 for 23 respectively.

Batting second the lads for Kegalle could score only 117 runs loss of 4 wickets in 24 overs when they stopped play due to bad light. T M Karunarathne scored 43 runs not out and Dinith Nethmina and Haritha Anusara shared 4 wickets between them. The match ended in a draw.

Maliyadewa Model School (A), Kurunegala vs St. Sylvester’s (A), Kandy

It was a top performance by Sylvester’s when they met Maliyadewa at Singer Schools Division (A) group ‘K’ match today played at Kurunegala. Sylvesters winning the toss and invited the home team to bat and demolished their opponents bowling them out for 52 runs in 29.5 overs. Sasika Basnayake made the damage by picking up 6 wickets for 15 runs.

Batting second the lads from Kandy put up a decent score on board when they declared their inning at 217 for 6 wickets in 31 overs. Vidura Maduranga smashed a brilliant century by 116 runs which was the highlight of the inning. Having a lead of 165 runs Sylvesters invited Maliyadewa to bat again searching for an outright win. But at the end of the day Maliyadewa for their second inning managed to put up a decent score of 156 runs for 3 wickets in 41 overs. The match ended up drawn and Sylvesters won the first inning point.
