The 3rd edition of the South Asian Junior Athletic Championship concluded with Sri Lanka securing 41 medals and were only behind India who topped the medal tally with 50 medals. Local juniors however were on top of their game when it came to the sprint events as they managed to dominate the Indians with blistering speed and showcased that they are capable of becoming real competitors in the Asian region if proper infrastructure and facilities are in place to preserve the talented athletes.
