Sri Lanka has brought in heavier penalties for match-fixing and tightened sports betting regulations in an attempt to extinguish the sports corruption that has haunted the national sports in the past few years. This has been especially rampant in Cricket and in doing so, Sri Lanka has become the first South Asian Country to criminalize sports fixing.
