University of Sri Jayawardenapura (UoSJ) defeated University of Colombo to secure their 5th consecutive Inter University Games Netball Championship played at the Uva Wellassa University.

University of Sri Jayawardenapura (UoSJ)crushed..
University of Sri Jayawardenapura defeated University of Colombo comprehensively 61-40 in the final to claim the title. In their semi-final UoSJ beat University of Kelaniya 40-25 and last year’s 3rd place winners, University of Colombo defeated last year’s runners-up University of Jaffna 34-23.
UoSJ has now won the championship in 2014, 2015, 2016 (SLUG), 2017 and 2018. The team is under the invaluable guidance of Hyacinth Wijesinghe who is the current Sri Lankan Army Netball Coach and a Former National Netball Coach. This is the longest period Hyacinth Wijesinghe has been coaching a team continuously (six years).
In the 1st quarter final, University of Kelaniya won 42-21 against University of Ruhuna and in the 2nd quarter final University of Colombo won 41-19 against South Eastern University of Sri Lanka. The 3rd and 4th quarter finals saw University of Jaffna and UoSJ coming out victorious against University of Moratuwa (30-26) and Sabaragamuwa University (43-18) respectively.
The tournament began with 14 universities drawn into four groups. The 2017 champions, University of Sri Jayawardenapura (UoSJ), were in Group A long side Wayamba University and South-Eastern University.

Group B had University of Jaffna, University of Visual and Performing Arts and Ruhuna University while University of Colombo, Uva Wellassa University, Sabaragamuwa University and Eastern University were in group C.
Group D comprised of University of Kelaniya, University of Moratuwa, University of Peradeniya and Rajarata University.
