Group C fixture commenced today at St. Sebastian’s College grounds, Moratuwa. Dharmaraja College captain, Sachintha Senanayake won the toss and elected to bat first but the home team’s opening bowlers got a dream start as the visitors were 5 for 2 inside the first 3 overs. Then, Dulaj Bandara’s well compiled half century guided Dharmaraja College to a decent 178. The home team were on 31/1 at stumps.

Earlier in the day, off-spinner Kavishka Senadeera’s six-fer restricted the visitors to 170 runs as the only fight came from Avishka Tharindu’s bat as he went on to score a well-deserving 85.

After being put into bat by the opposition, Richmond College was in all sorts of trouble as they were wrapped up for a 120 in 42 overs.  Sri Lanka U19 national cap Sandun Mendis top scored for the visitors with a valuable 42. In reply, Gurukula College’s top order got to a brisk start as they erased 50 off 10 overs from Richmond’s 1st inning total. Continuing the good work by the openers, middle order batsmen Kemira Nayanatharu & Nuwan Chanaka saw the day off as Gurukula College was on a commanding 168/3 at stumps.

Malinda Perera who was the chief destroyer bagged 5 wickets for 13 runs. In reply, the home team were in a strong position at the end of play at 160/9.
