Two games of the ongoing Singer U19 Division 1 Cricket Tournament got underway today, 1st of November in Colombo and Galle. 

Ananda College, Colombo vs St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa

Ananda College hosted St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennapuwa at Ananda Mawatha, a venue which has proved to be a paradise for the batsmen in the recent past. Winning the toss and batting first, Ananda College skipper, Kanishka Ranthilakage led by example, scoring an elegant 97 runs. The Ananda batsman got right into the groove following their skipper as they posted 281 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Janidu Jayawardena played a supporting knock of 62 runs. Shon Shenil was the only bowler who managed some success for the visitors as he bagged 6 wickets for 88 runs.

St. Joseph Vaz College fell into deep trouble in their reply, ending the day on 70 for the loss of 5 wickets.

Royal College, Colombo vs Richmond College, Galle

Royal College were taken by surprise at the Galle International Cricket Stadium as Richmond College, who are hosting them in a traditional fixture, ripped their batting line-up apart for just 87 runs. Royal declared the innings with just a wicket in hand. Left arm spinner Sugeeth Nimnada took charge of the assault by the home team and returned with figures of 5 for 33. 

Richmond in reply were at 64 for 3 by sunset. Achintha Isiwara was at the crease with 35 runs to his name.
