Four games of Singer U19 Division-One Cricket Tournament got underway today, 18th February.

Gurukula College vs Moratu Maha Vidyalaya

The traditional encounter is being worked off at Moratuwa where the visiting Gurukula College won the toss and elected to bat first. The left-arm star of Moratu Vidyalaya, Eran Hansamal, did his regular magic with the ball for his alma mater as the visitors tumbled for 134 runs. Praveen Nimesh scored a consolidating 34 runs.

Moratu Maha Vidyalaya batting was led by the run machine who is in a blind form, Nishan Madushka. The stylish right-hander brought-up his 6th century with an unbeaten 110 runs. The hosts ended the day with 159 runs on board for the loss of 5 wickets.

 St. Peter’s College are hosting St. Anthony’s College, Kandy in this traditional encounter. After winning the toss, the Peterite skipper, Ranmith Jayasena decided to bat first. Opener, Dinith Anjula gave a wonderful start to the Peterite innings as he went on to make 91 runs. Skipper Jayasena also contributed with 60 runs while Sasith Hirudika and Nimnaka Jayathilaka both picking up 3 wickets each. St. Peter’s College posted 246 runs for the loss of 9 wickets and declared their innings.

St. Anthony’s College, Kandy was at 22 runs for the loss of 1 wicket by the close of play.

 Devapathiraja College elevated themselves to a commanding position in the game as they won the toss and batted the entire day out at MRICS, Hambantota. They posted 252 runs on the board for the loss of 6 wickets, after being put in to bat first.

Pathum Madushanka and Jeevaka Shashin top-scored with 73 runs while Sudeera Weerarathne also chipped in with 66 runs. Niluksha Kasun’s 3 for 36 was the pick of the bowling.
