St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya reached the semi-finals of the all-island under 17 division one cricket tournament when they defeated Mahinda College, Galle by 66 runs in the first quarter-final played at Thurstan grounds yesterday.
Batting first, the Peterites posted 211 runs as skipper Santhush Gunathilake top-scored for the winners with a fluent 56. Lakshan Rodrigo and Shivon Perera made 41 and 37 respectively. Vinura Dulsara and Prageeth Malintha captured 3 wickets apiece for the Mahindians.
Chasing 212 runs to win, Mahinda College were bowled out for just 165 runs. Reshan Kavinda made 37 while Ravindu Welihinda scored 30 runs. Dinith Anjula and Sachin Silva took 3 wickets each as the Peterites advanced to the semi-finals.
