Sri Lanka registered their second outright win in the pre-qualifying round of the Junior Davis Cup 2019, over Bahrain this afternoon (5th March) at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association.

Much like day 1, Sri Lanka quickly snatched the two singles matches to officially win the tie and later went on to win the doubles to complete the 3-0 whitewash.

Thehan Wijemanne, starting the day off for the Lankans, wasted no time with his 2nd singles match against Mohamed Alkhan. Winning 12 straight games in just 45 minutes, Wijemanne set the stage for Dhilvan Herath.

Herath taking the baton, smashed Ali Al Sharif 6/1, 6/0 in under an hour to finish off the tie. Entering the customary doubles was Chathurya Nilaweera and Dhilvan Herath who were quick to finish off the match in a clean 6/0, 6/0 final score.

Sri Lanka will have their most crucial tie between Malaysia tomorrow, 6th March with both teams playing for the top spot in the group. This will be Sri Lanka’s final group match and while the home team’s and Malaysia’s entry to the top 8 play-offs’ is already a done deal, the group topper will have an advantage going into the play-offs.
