A Rajika Dilshan 6-fer and an unbeaten 94 by Kasun Vidura helped Chilaw Marians cruise to a 5 wicket win over Army to seal the under 23 division 1 title.
Chilaw Marians won the toss and elected to field on a rainy morning at SSC in the final of the under 23 Division 1 cricket tournament.
Army got off to a good start as their openers managed an 86 run partnership for the first wicket. Ashan Randika was the first to be dismissed as he fell 4 runs short of a half century. Himasa Liyanage was dismissed for 29 as Army’s total read 130 for 2 in 20.2 overs.
Following the second wicket, Army never managed to string a partnership together in the game as their middle order collapsed and they were reduced to 165 for 5 within 30 overs and eventually bowled out for 191 in just 37.2 overs.

Rajika Dilshan was the star with the ball for Chilaw Marians as he cleaned up Army single handedly, picking up 6 wickets for just 30 runs in 9.2 overs.
The Marians began brightly as their openers managed 94 runs for the first wicket. Rukshan Fernando was the first to fall as he fell 2 runs short of a half century. They had a slight stutter in their innings as 3 quick wickets fell for just 8 runs but Kasun Vidura made sure he stayed till the end and saw Chilaw Marians home.
Vidura managed a belligerent 94 off 111 balls which included 9 fours. Malka Madushanka picked up 2 wickets for Army but it was not enough as Chilaw Marians cruised home in the 38th over of the game.
