Having won the U20 Schools’ league and Knockout trophy, Isipathana College is looking for the perfect end to their rugby calendar this season with a win at the U18 All Island Rugby League tournament.

Having arrived at the tournament as the reigning champions and the favorites to clinch the title, Isipathana has not disappointed their diehard fans so far. The semi-final game was arguably the hardest game the Green Machine had to encounter en route the final as the Antonians put on a tremendous display of gritty defense to hold the dangerous Isipathana runners at bay.  They went on to defeat a spirited Anthonian outfit 8-0 after leading 3-0 at half time.

In the second semi-final Kingswood College took on the new kids on the block Zahira College who seem to be a re-energized outfit after their promotion to the top flight at the end of last season. With the game being played at a break-neck, franatic pace the lads from the hill country put first points on the board in the third minute of the first half. While the Zahirians responded with a try of their own to equal the scores they were guilty of giving away possession at crucial moments which led to two more tries as Kingswood won the encounter 17-05 to book their place in the final.

The Isipathanians, who have had a perfect season in the longer format of the game this year, will be determined to finish the year on a high, winning the final trophy on offer while the boys from Randall hill, Kingswood College Kandy will be determined to erase the woes of their U20 season earlier this year having finished at the bottom of the table and would be looking to gain some consolation grabbing the U18 trophy.
