Singer Under 19 Division 1 two-day quarter final between Trinity College and Nalanda College, Singer Under 19 Division 1 limited overs pre-quarter final between Mahinda College and St. Sebastian’s College and the Singer Under 19 Division II two day quarter final between Royal College and St. Anthony’s College were conducted today around the island.

Trinity College, Kandy vs Nalanda College, Colombo

Under 19 Division 1 two-day quarter final between Trinity College and Nalanda College commenced today at St. Joseph’s College grounds. Trinity skipper Hasitha Boyagoda opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted 267 runs all out for their first innings. Jeff Weerasinghe (62) and Thisaru Rashmika (56) were the major contributors with the bat for Trinity College.

Royal College, Colombo vs St. Anthony’s College, Kandy

St. Anthony’s College managed to record a first innings win over Royal College and qualified to the semifinals of the Singer U-19 Division II two-day cricket tournament 2017/18. After winning the toss, Anthony’s skipper Janidu Himsara decided to bat first and the decision paid off as they posted a mammoth score of 411 runs on the board for the first innings. Skipper Janidu Himsara (85) and left handed stroke maker Navodya Imesh (63) top scored for Antonians.

In reply, Royal batsmen put on a poor batting display as they were bundled out for just 117 runs for their first innings. Off spinner Kalhara Senarathne was the chief destroyer with the ball for the Antonians as he picked up 5 wickets for 16 runs.

St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa vs Mahinda College, Galle

Mahinda College defeated St. Sebastian’s College by 7 wickets in the U-19 Division I limited over pre-quarter final which was worked off today at Galle International Cricket Stadium. Sebastian’s skipper Tharusha Fernando won the toss and elected to bat first but managed to post only 209 runs all out. Left handed batsmen Nishitha Abilash (48) and Malintha Peiris (40) top scored for the Sebastianites.
