The League’s Impact players week 8

Prasad Malinda

Science College skipper had a terrific outing as he led his team to a memorable yet close win over the fancied St. Joseph’s. Prasad Malinda’s quick ball from the base of the ruck was essential for Science to break away and score four tries in the game. Prasad handled his team exceptionally well as his running game was brilliant and caused many problems to the Josephian camp. Prasad’s box kicks off the scrum helped his runners to chase and gain territory was a key feature of his game

Suchintha Udumalagala

Omnipresent and hardworking Josephian Number 8/Vice-captain had another successful outing displaying a solid attacking and defensive game. Suchintha’s mind blowing 20 meter burst through the blind side which was the opening try for the hosts was a treat to watch. Suchintha made the most number of tackles for Joes as his effective tackles kept Science attackers at bay. He led his pack very well throughout the game.

Kevin Dixon

Simply outstanding this young lad did well to claim a draw against Isipathana. Dixon currently is the highest try scorer in the league so far with a total of 10 tries under his name. His nippy footwork is a striking feature of his game.

Damith Dissanayake

The big powerful and mobile prop forward Dissanayake is on song this season. He is the second highest try scorer with 9 tries to his name. Every match he has shown his ability in attack and great work in the scrum. He has a knack for turnovers and his 2 tries against St. Peters made a huge different last week.

Nimshan Jayawardena

Leading from the front yet again Nimshan was rollicking against St. Thomas. He cuts loose and scored two well-deserved tries. Nimshan scored 16 points last week and now he is 11 points behind to Tarinda Ratwatte’s 99 points, which is the highest points’ scored by an individual so far in the league.

Pandula DeSilva

Thomian prop forward showed great fitness even in dying stages in the second half. The burly prop showed great speed and agility where he ran 20m for his solo try against Royal in week 8. Although Thomians has not played up to the expectations this season Pandula will ask questions for the selectors ahead of Junior Asiad selections.

Saranga Gunathilake

The hat-trick hero Lions full back perhaps had the match of his life. His running game and support play was eye catching and showed great talent in a nail biting win against the home town rivals Kingswood. He controlled the game well and his calm and composed approach was remarkable.

Imthisham Jaleel

The speedy wing scored a very good try despite Kingswood losing conceding a last moment try. However, Jaleel was very consistent and showed cased individual brilliance for his College throughout the season. Kingswood now need to win with a 4try bonus points against the decider with Isipathana this week, If he can produce some magic with his form that would be no surprise.
