The first of the mid-week clashed in the Dialog Champions League 2016 saw a stunning win for Super Sun away from home while New Youngs bounced back to defeat Saunders and Thihariya Youth snatched a late equalizer against Police.

Michael penalty gives Renown an unconvincing win

It needed a moment of madness from Java Lane goalkeeper Dammika Senerath and a cool finish from Job Michael for Renown to come away with all three points against Java Lane at Kelaniya Football Complex.

Java Lane was on a high after securing a late draw against Navy in Welisara and dominated the 2nd half, with Yapi Yapo at the heart of defense and attack, against an out of sorts Renown side who looked to be low on energy after their match against New Youngs a couple of days back.

However Senerath fouled a Renown SC player, who posed no threat to the goal though inside the penalty box, to give Michael a 65th minute penalty.

Shafraz scored in the 11th minute for the visitors as they led 1-0 at half time.

However he was sent off in the 66th minute leaving Air Force with 24 minutes to get back into the game; but the defense, led by Teo Daniel held off the marauding Airmen to inflict their first loss at the Ekala Base.
