Here’s a wrap up of the SLC Tier A Premier League matches which took place today.

Chilaw Marians vs Ragama CC

Chilaw Marians were leading by 8 runs in their second innings in their match against Ragama CC at Colts grounds. Ragama resumed play with 86 for 2 on board. Saminda Fernando went onto make a brilliant 93 while the rest of the top order faded away. He found good support from Koshan Dhanushka who scored a 35 ball 50 with 4 sixes and 5 boundaries. Arosh Janoda was the pick of the bowlers for Chilaw with figures of 5 for 45 while Shehan Jayasuriya bagged 3 wickets.

At stumps on day 2, Chilaw were 116 for 2 in their second innings.

Early on, Chilaw were bowled out for just 168 runs for their first innings with Nilanka Premarathne taking 5 wickets with the ball for Ragama.

NCC vs Army SC

NCC was leading by 180 runs in their second innings at stumps on day 2 in their match against Army at SSC grounds. Angelo Perera scored an unbeaten 50 in the second innings which led his team to 139 for 4 at close of play. Dinesh Chandimal scored a brisk 41 at no 4. Earlier in the day, Army were bowled out for 227 runs in their first innings Lakshitha Madushan top scored with 54 at the top but the rest of the batsmen could not capitalize on some good starts. Chathuranga De Silva and Sachintha Pieris bagged 4 wickets each for NCC.

On day 1, NCC made 268 all out with half centuries from Angelo Perera and Thimira Jayasinghe.

Colts CC vs Tamil Union

Colts were in a commanding position at stumps on day 2 with a healthy lead of 298 runs against Tamil Union. Sadeera Samarawickrama was yet again firing at the top with another half century and this time he was unfortunately dismissed 7 runs short of a hundred. At stumps, they were 248 for 3 with Angelo Jayasinghe unbeaten on 76 and Vishad Randika unbeaten on 60.

Early on the day, Tamil Union were bowled out for just 168 runs with Ishan Jayarathne taking 5 for 40 for Colts. Sithira Gimhan top scored with 43 while the rest of the batsmen fell apart for the reigning champions.

SSC vs CCC

SSC registered a convincing 85 run victory against CCC to end their premier league on a high. CCC were given a target of 202 runs to get in their 2nd innings but they were bowled out for just 117 runs thanks to some brilliant spin bowling by Sachithra Senanayake and Jeffrey Vandersay. Both spinners captured 4 wickets each.

Early on SSC made 147 for their first innings. Wanidu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers with 5 for 15 for CCC. In reply CCC were cleaned up for just 101 runs. Sachithra Senanayake and Dilshan Abeysinghe bagged 3 wickets each. SSC could only make 155 for their second innings with Kaushal Silva top scoring with 43 runs.
