CIS Colombo met Lyceum Nugegoda at the finals of girls’ Under 19 Inter International Basketball Championships.


Asian International School and Colombo International School Kandy battled for the championship as Gateway and CIS Colombo struggled for the 3rd position.

After a gruelling week of basketball four teams earned their spots in both the boy’s and girl’s finals at the Inter-International Basketball Tournament hosted by Britsh School.

The Under 19 Inter- International Basketball Tournament commenced yesterday at the British School Indoor and Outdoor Basketball Courts. The tournament which will be played across 9 days will consist of 8 girl’s teams and 16 boy’s teams from across the island.

Under-15 ‘A’ Division Inter-School Basketball Championship

It would not be an exaggeration to claim that when the greatest sporting rivalries in the world are recorded in the annals of history, the rivalry between S. Thomas’ College and Royal College would definitely find a place in its hallowed pages.

Royal College, Colombo and Holy Family Convent,Bambalapitiya won the overall Championships of the Under-19 Inter-School Basketball Tournament which concluded at Henry Pediris Courts in Colombo under lights on Sunday.

Gateway College Colombo won the crunch points with composure, to beat Ave Maria, Negombo 53-41 in the All-Island Under 19 B Division Girls Finals at the Ave Maria courts in Negombo. It was a thrilling final where Ave Maria led at half time 33-32. 

The 47th match of the Carlton Basketball Championship was wrapped up earlier today between the dominant Colombo BC and the Peterites ‘A’ BC.
