Sri Lanka U19s suffered a heavy 161-run defeat at the hands of Bangladesh U19s in the third youth ODI match played on Thursday in Chattogram.
After the hosts successfully chased down 209 in little more than 25 overs in the previous game, the visiting islanders opted to chase in this game.

Impressive right-arm seamer Amshi De Silva struck early but a fruitful stand between Tanzid Hasan and Mahmudul Hasan Joy resurrected the Bangladeshi innings. Hasan slammed a 53-ball 60, while Joy scored a useful 52.
However, in-form batter Towhid Hridoy completely changed the complexion of the game as he smashed the Lankan bowlers all over the ground with a sublime, unbeaten knock of 123 off 98 deliveries with 8 fours and 6 sixes. His brilliant innings guided the hosts to a mammoth 340 from their allotted 50 overs.
Skipper Akbar Ali played the second fiddle during the 107-run stand for the 5th wicket. Ali collected 52 off 43 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. Almost all of the Lankan bowlers were taken to the cleaners, except left-arm spinner Rohan Sanjaya, who had an economy below 6. Leg-spinner Kavindu Nadeeshan and left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka picked up two wickets each for Sri Lanka U19s.
Chasing an improbable target of 341, the Sri Lankan openers Mohammed Shamaz and Navod Paranavithana got off to a blistering start, adding 64 in less than 6 overs before the former was dismissed for 29. Left-handed Paranavithana made a 32-ball 50 which included 9 fours.
He was undone by Shoriful Islam as the visitors started losing momentum. Rest of the batsmen failed to make a sizeable contribution as Bangladesh U19s wrapped up the innings in the 32nd innings.
With this win, Bangladesh U19s lead the five-match series, 2-0. The remaining two games will be played on the 17th and 19th at the same venue.
