Richmond College batting all-rounder Kamindu Mendis will lead the Sri Lanka U19s at the ICC U19 Youth World Cup 2018 in New Zealand.

The 13th edition of the event, featuring 16 teams, will be held from January 13 to February 3. Mendis will become the second successive player from Richmond College, Galle to lead Sri Lanka U19 cricket team after Charith Asalanka did the honours in the 2016 edition. Mendis rose to fame in the last Youth World Cup with his ambidextrous bowling. Josephian all-rounder Jehan Daniel will serve as the vice-captain of the side.
