Sri Lanka take on India in Asian Communities Football

Determined Sri Lanka will take on India on 2nd February in their third game of the 6th Asian Communities Football Tournament in Qatar.

The match will be played at the Al Markhiya Stadium (Next to Al Hazm Mall) at 8.00 pm. Having beaten South Korea and Malaysia in their previous games, Sri Lanka will come to this game with a positive mind set.  

Team Sri Lanka performed a solid game of football in their opening two game against South Korea and Malaysia where they won both the games 2-0 and 1-0 respectively. Sri Lanka is having a comparatively younger side in the tournament, but many of these players have played for various ‘A’ division clubs in the Island.

On the other hand, India is one of the favourites in the contest having an experienced side who became champions in the 2016 tournament. It is expected to be one of the enthralling matches in the tournament where both teams are trying to secure top position in the table.

“Asian Communities Football Tournament” is an annual event organised by Qatar Football Association (QFA) with a motive to bring together various Asian Communities residing in Qatar and encourage them to play more football in a fun and competitive environment.

The event is sponsored by Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy as the official Strategic Partner, Nike as the Official Supplier, and Al Kaas Sports Channel as the official broadcaster. Sri Lanka is featuring for the 5th consecutive year in this tournament in group ‘A’ alongside India, Jordan, Korea, Malaysia and Philippines.
