The two semi-finals of the U17 All Island ‘A’ Division Boys’ Basketball Tournament 2019 were worked off yesterday. St. Joseph`s College and Ananda College triumphed to book the two spots in the big final.

Hosts, St. Joseph`s College (SJC) took on Lyceum International School – Nugegoda in the first semi-final. Joes having the home advantage, demolished the lads from Nugegoda with ease. Even though the visitors did lead the game in the maiden quarter, the latter three were won by SJC as they cruised to a comfortable win.

The second semi-final match up was played between Ananda College and St. Anne`s College. The game started off well, as both teams stepped in to play competitive basketball. However, the Kurunegala lads lost their momentum in the second and third quarters, scoring in single digits. Even though the final quarter was won by them, the damage was already done.

Finals scores read, 60-40 in favor of Ananda College. 

 

The final between St Joseph’s and Ananda will be held this evening (27th) at the St Joseph’s College Courts.
