Two out of two for Dharmashoka College

The second session of the first day of action in Ambalangoda saw three exciting encounters which bought the day to a close as the hosts, Dharmashoka College remained on top.

The first match of the second session was played between St. Thomas` College – Matara and Mahinda College – Galle. Mahinda College took on the lead from the early stages of the game as they adopted a passing game and used all five players on the court to score points. Mahinda College scored 26 points in reply to the ten points of the opposition.

Even though the third quarter was dominated by St.Thomas` College as they replied with a dozen points to the four points of the opposition, they failed to carry on the momentum to the final quarter. Having the advantage of the early lead, the six points Mahinda College – Galle scored in the final quarter helped them win the game by a lead of ten points.

The second match of the evening session was played between Dharamashoka College and Richmond College. Dharamashoka College going on a scoring rampage, made 45 points inside the first two quarters. Richmond College only managed 25.

Extending the twenty-point gap on the scoreboard, Dharmashoka College added another 36 points in the second half. Even though Richmond College did tick the scoreboard, their defense was not good enough to keep off the attack from the home team.

The third and final match for the day was played between Rahula College and St. Aloysius College. St. Aloysius College dominated proceedings from the starting whistle as they scored 26 and 19 points respectively for the first two quarters. In reply Rahula College only managed to add 09 and 05 points respectively.

Rahula College was never in the game, as both their offence and defense let them down. The game ended as Rahula College walked away in despair.
