Lyceum International School – Pandura v British School in Colombo

LISP managed to steal the jump ball from BSC but failed to score, which would become the story for the entire game. BSC got the scoreboard moving with an easy layup. Poor defense strategy by LISP allowed the BSC girls to sneak through for more layups and easy jump shots into the basket.

LISP took possession of the ball but, faced with a tight defense, they could just not get close to the basket. Their three point shots fell short and many substitutions took place during the 1st half.

At no point of the game did LISP threaten to close the gap, let alone go past BSC. The BSC girls found the basket at regular intervals and managed to get the passes going to make space for well-timed shots. BSC was careful not to let LISP score any easy points.

Determined to turn things around, LISP walked in to the court with better energy and focus, but a change in defense by BSC thwarted their plans. BSC went on to win the game convincingly.

British School in Colombo v Royal Institute

To commence proceedings, RI stole the jump ball but let it slip, allowing BSC to get the game going. BSC followed this up with another two pointer but it would prove to be the only time where they held the lead in the game as RI took control.

Janith’s energy coupled with his ability to penetrate the defense with ease was the difference between the two teams. His agile movement and jump shots were just too much for the BSC defense to handle.

Upon returning for the second half, both teams looked to dominate proceedings but they were equally good with their defenses and neither team was offered any freebees. BSC just couldn’t turn the tide in their favor after the initial burst.

Although BSC was able to score 22 points as opposed to RI’s 21 points in the second half, the lead from the first two quarters gave RI the victory. Janith stood out as the most valuable player for RI as they progressed towards the final rounds of the tournament.
