The Master Hockey League will kick off on the 23rd of September as 8 teams battle it out for glory at the Astro Hockey Turf in Colombo.

Happening for the first time, the Master Hockey will be one of the first tournaments in which more than 100 ex-international stickers from different districts come together.

Eight teams will fight it out in two groups of four. Group leaders will play it out in the final and the second placed teams from each group will play the Plate final, third placed teams for the Bowl and final placed teams to contest for the Shield.

The organizers of the tournament have high hope for the years to come, with plans of playing the tournament as an annual event and even expand to which foreign players participate. Confirming the above intention, Ratnasiri Mahagalaella, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Masters Hockey League mentioned “Masters future plan is to conduct this tournament as an annual event and to get foreign teams aiming a surprise for Sri Lanka Hockey lovers”

The tournament will be played on the 23rd of September from 8am to 5pm and will even consist of a ladies exhibition match. The finals will take place from 3pm onwards.

Colombo Wolves, Merc Spiders, Colombo Dragons, Colombo Tuskers, Matale Wipers, Uva Rhinos, Matale Panthers and Kandy Lions.
