Sri Lanka had to endure a straight sets loss against hosts Bahrain at the 19th Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship 2018 in Manama, Bahrain.

Sri Lanka will face hosts Bahrain in the 9th place play-off match at the 19th Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship 2018…
Sri Lanka lost to Kazakhstan, who they beat in the group stage, in the Round of 16 which demoted them to play in the 9th-12th place playoffs. In that, Sri Lanka defeated Qatar 3-1 to book a date with Bahrain to battle for the 9th place.
Sri Lanka had a good start against the hosts but lost the 1st set 25-21 after a close battle. However, Sri Lanka could not make a comeback as they had done a few times in the tournament.
The islanders lost the 2nd set 25-19 and 25-17 and had to be satisfied with the 10th place. Once again it was Mahela Indeewara who was the highest scorer for Sri Lanka with 11 points from 9 spikes and 2 blocks.
