A fluent 107-run partnership between Dushan Hettige (62) and Sanjula Abeywickrama (44*) ensured a Western Province North victory as they beat Southern Province by 50 runs (D/L method) to win the Prima under 15 provincial tournament finals which took place today at SSC grounds.

St. Peter's College played their first match of the 2014/15 cricket season against St. Aloysius College at Galle International Stadium during the weekend. The match ended without a result due to bad weather conditions and only 118.3 overs were bowled on both days. 

Persistent rain and bad light played the spoil sport as DS Senanayake College had to satisfy with only a first-innings win over St. Joseph’s College in their under 19 division 1 cricket encounter which concluded on Friday at Darley Road. 

Western Province North led by Josephian all-rounder Jehan Daniel and Southern Province led by Dharmasoka bowler Raveen Yasas have qualified to play in the Prima under 15 provincial final which is scheduled to play on 27th September at SSC grounds. 

Southern Province, North Central Province and two Western Province teams will battle it out to book final berths when they meet in the Under-15 Inter Provincial Prima Cup tournament semi finals at two venues today.

Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda was crowned the under 19 girls cricket champions for the 2nd consecutive year when they beat Devapathiraja MMV, Rathgama by 6 wickets in the final played at Wesley College grounds on Tuesday. 

Devapathiraja College, Ratgama and Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda beat Vijayabahu MV Okkampitiya and Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha respectively in the semi-finals of the Inter School Under-19 Girl’s Cricket tournament played at Campbell Park yesterday.

Newly appointed under 19 Sri Lanka vice-captain Charith Asalanka excelled with brilliant all-round performances for Richmond College as they took major honours and won the game on 1st innings against S. Thomas’ College at Mount Lavinia on 19th and 20th of September.

Josephian wicket-keeper batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama was adjudged the Bata-Times Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2014 when he won the top award at the colourful 35th Bata-Times Schoolboy Cricketer Awards held at Museaus College auditorium on Friday night. 

Thurstan College commenced their 2014/15 cricket season under all-rounder Thimira Jayasinghe with a thumping innings and 104-run victory over Carey College in their under 19 division 1 match played at Thurstan College Grounds.
