The level III matches of the 51st Senior Nationals Basketball Championship got underway in Kilinochci and Polonaruwa. Here`s a look at what happened in Killinochchi.

With the senior nationals basketball championship…
Kegalle District BA took on Killinochchin District BA in the first match of the tournament. Kegalle District BA emerged victorious after a nail biting battle throughout the forty minutes of play. Kegalle District led the game 26-18 at half time but Killinochchi District BA fought hard as the lost the game by only four points. The full time scores read 50-46. Dinusha Madushanka scored 14 points together with Sanjeewa who added another eleven points for Kegalle District BA. Nuwan scored 13 points for Killinochchi while Maduranga added another 11 more.

In the second game of the tournament, Rathnapura District BA took on Vavnia District BA. Rathnapura District BA led the game 23-18 at half time. Nuvindu Samarasinghe scored 10 points for Rathnapura while Ravindu Dissanayake added another 08. Rathnapura District BA won the game as the full time scores read 45-39. K.Kavillavan scored 20 points and S.Senturan chipped in with 08 points for Vavunia District BA.

In the third and the fourth match of the tournament, Kilinochchi District BA took on Vavunia District BA and Kegalle District BA took on Rathanapura District BA respectively. Kilinochchi District BA beat Vavunia District BA 50-40 at full time while Kegalle District BA emerged victorious beating Rathnapura District BA 41-29.
The fifth match was played between Killinochchi District BA v Rathanapura District BA. Killinochchi District BA led the game by a point at halftime 16-15. Sudesh Ranasinghe and Ishan Danishka added 06 points each for Killinochchi while Kaushalya Uddepana and N.Samarasinghe added 06 points each for Ratnapura. Killinochchi District BA won the match 23-15 at full time.
Kegalle District cruised through to a victory beating Vavuniya District BA in the sixth match of the tournament as the final scorecard read 66-16.
