The Sri Lanka men`s basketball team tipped-off the 2018 edition of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup in Shenzen, China earlier today. Sri Lanka playing in the qualifying draw, took on Thailand and South Korea.

Sri Lanka v Thailand

Living up to the tag of a championship opener, the maiden match went right down to the wire. Sri Lanka managed to edge out Thailand by a mere three points to record their first win as the final scores read, 21-19.

Sri Lanka recorded 08 fouls in the match while Thailand recorded 07. It was a complete team performance by the local lads. Both Sudesh Ahamed and Arnold Brent went on to score 6 points. Sudesh`s 06 points included a free-throw and 05 baskets, while Brent dished out three shots from outside the arc to earn his 06 points.

Clinton Thevakumar went on to score 05 points while Timothy Nithushan chipped in with 04 points. For Thailand, Kalhan Patiphan top scored with 09 points while Dasom Wutipong and Bandit Lakhan added 08 and 02 points respectively.

Sri Lanka v South Korea

Sri Lanka stepped into the second game of the day with a winning mentality but the South Koreans proved hard to be tamed. Even though Sri Lanka were consistent in their scoring at the end of the 10 minutes of play, South Korea edged over by four points.
