Fima Sports Sainthamaruthu together with Holy Heroes Sports Club, Sainthamaruthu has organized the Speed T20 Cricket Championship 2017 in Eastern Province.
32 teams from Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee will participate in this competition which has received consent from Ampara District Cricket Association. All teams will be divided into 8 groups and two teams from each group will advance to the pre-quarter finals and from then onwards, it will be knock-outs.
The theme for the tournament will be ‘CRICKET FOR UNITY’ in order to spread peace and unity in the region. The opening ceremony will take place on 24th February and the matches will go on till 14th April.
The main sponsors of the tournament would be SPEED Sports Company, India while the co-sponsors would be Khazana Sports, Colombo, Top Queen Advertising, Maligaikadu, MYSRO, Santhamaruthu, The Thinakaran, Iqra Mobile, Sea Breeze Restaurant, STC, Sainthamaruthu, Import Mirror Media Network and ThePapare.com, Sri Lanka’s number one sports hub will be the official web media partner.
The Champions will receive 100,000 rupees worth Cash and Speed Cricket Equipment while the runner-up will benefit 50,000 rupees worth Cash and Speed Cricket Equipment.
