Two of the bottom ranked teams who could be fighting for survival towards the end of the season, Badureliya SC and Negombo CC played out a thrilling game at the Surrey Village grounds in Maggona, before the former secured first innings points.

Badureliya SC resumed day two on 130/0 and reached 184 without further damage, before Alankara Asanka’s marathon 257 ball knock ended on 82.

Tatenda Taibu also made a fluent 41 but it was Salinda Ushan’a superb century that seemed to guide Badureliya SC towards a first innings win.

After Ushan’s dismissal for 113 though, Badureliya SC started losing their way and were soon staring down the barrel at 319/9, 10 runs short of victory.

It was up to Lahiru Samarakoon and Buddika Sanjeewa – who put on a heroic unbroken 64* run stand in the previous match to guide them to a first innings win – once again to produce the goods and they didn’t disappoint as Badureliya SC made 333 all-out to secure the first innings win.
