Following promotion to the top division in 2016/17, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Cricket Club have gone on to surprise a few in the ongoing 2017/18 club cricket circuit.

Ports Authority, formerly known as Seeduwa Raddoluwa Cricket Club, have been a successful team since entering the premier club cricket tournament in 2011/12. They did also win the premier cricket tournament in 2014/15 under the captaincy of Ashan Priyanjana.

Captaining the side and leading from the front, Gihan Rupasinghe has been instrumental with the bat for SLPA, scoring 389 runs, topping the run scorer tally for the club.

Furthermore, the arrival of Englishman Nick Compton has gone on to strengthen the side’s batting. He has amassed 391 runs of 7 games with a best of 98 this season.

Gayan Maneeshan (378) and Yohan de Silva (368) have all gone on to pass the 300-run mark, adding depth to the SLPA batting.

Meanwhile Maduka Liyanapathiranage has impressed with both bat (320 runs) and ball (39 wickets), fulfilling the key all-rounder role for the team.

Left arm spinner, Chanaka Komasaru (64) is the leading wicket taker for the club while former Sri Lanka representative Akalanka Ganegama has managed just 14 wickets with his medium pace; not too many others have impressed with the ball this season
