G P Sisira Kumara scored another sub-par round of 70 to be nine under par over 3 rounds and maintain a 7-stroke lead from Amarapthma who fired a 69, the best card for the 3rd Round. Young prospect Chalitha Pushpika returned the 3rd best card for the day a 1 over par 72. However, the spectacular performance was from 16 year old Taniya Minel Balasuriya, the only lady in the field, playing off the same Tee Box among the best of the Amateur Male golfers in Sri Lanka. Taniya shot a 3 over par 74 to climb up the leader board after the cut-off, to joint 13th place.

Results of Day 1

Sisira Kumara seems secure at the top of the leader board with a seven stroke lead, but golf is a funny game and the unexpected could happen, even though Sisira Kumara’s experience should see him through to the winning line. The top 20 who made the cut in the inaugural edition of the LECTRA SRI LANKA GOLF GRAND PRIX 2019, will earn World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points monitored by R&A the world amateur golf governing body, ensuring the development and progress of Golf globally.

The final round promises much and will be followed by a solemn prize giving to the winners, by the sponsor Apparel Technologies, a member of the Bobbin group of Companies, conducted and organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union, the governing body of Golf in Sri Lanka.
