A lackluster performance by St. Anthony’s College at Nittawela saw their win-less misery continue as Science College secured their second win in the Division II-A of the Singer Schools Rugby League 22-10 at Nittawela.

A game that was frequently interrupted by rain saw a series of handling errors from both sides and was not at the expected standard of schools rugby.

Tirusha Ekanayake later kicked a neat 40-meter penalty for the home side to cut the deficit to 2 points but that was all the hosts could get in the first half.

First five-eighth Hasaranga Akmeemana who missed a trick last week against Isipathana got his rhythm back as he stormed through the crumbling Antonian defense to score Science’s second.

With minutes to go for lemons, the ball came loose to Tharusha Silva who took on two players to score their third.

Akmeemana converted 1 out of the 3 tries that Science scored.

Half Time: Science 17 lead St. Anthony’s 3

The second half was nothing different from the 1st. with both teams losing out on scoring opportunities owing to their poor handling skills.

In the 54th minute, Sanjula Rohan finally found luck, scoring from an outside running angle bringing Science their 4th try.

The Antonians were very unsettled and with no game plan, a comeback seemed improbable.

Theeksha Gunasinghe got somewhat of a breakthrough in the 66th minute from an under the post try but it was all too little too late.
