The young loose forward donning the 1st XV jersey for the 4th consecutive year, Denuwan Lakranda, has been assigned the responsibility of leading the lads from Science College, during the Schools Rugby season that will kick off in early March.

Science College managed to survive and retain their spot in the topflight for the new season after quite a mediocre season last year. Winning only 3 games out of 9, Science will now look to put in an improved performance this year!

While making tackles like a lunatic, being the first to a breakdown and roaming the wide spaces with the skills of a three quarter, Lakranda will shoulder the added responsibility of marshalling the troops to victory as Science college will look to regain and live up to their reputation of being Giant Killers. An experienced campaigner, Lakranda has been a key contributor to rugby in Science College for the past few years. He will indeed look to bring in all his experience together with an improved performance as he is left with an uphill task this year looking to retain Science’s spot in Division ‘A’ for 2021 as well.

Science College’s biggest victory came in 2015, when they trumped then ‘Kings of Rugby’ Isipathana College to win the Milo Knockout Championship. However, since then Science have been on the back foot, although they have occasionally caused real trouble to the top teams in the league.

The coaching duties have been handed over to well experienced Bilal Yusuf, while Henry Terrence makes his way from Isipathana College to take over as the assistant coach. Science College will take on Isipathana College in their opening game at Havelock Park on the 7th of March 2020.
