The passionately followed school rugby will have another throw of the dice this October after a long silence of two months with the Colombo combined schools vs Kandy combined schools encounter that will kick off at the Havelocks grounds on the 23rd of October 2015.

The Colombo combined schools vs Kandy combined schools encounter is played with the primary purpose of selecting the Junior Tuskers squad in line for the Junior Asiad that is scheduled to take place in December this year. Although it has been two months, the traces of that Science College victory in the President’s trophy against Isipathana and Royal’s win against Isipathana for the league decider still remain fresh in some minds. This upcoming encounter is surely set to bring back the flair and excitement that is embedded in the school rugby arena.

Organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association, the Kandy and Colombo teams are coached by Nihal ‘Viper’ Gunarathne and Collin Denesh respectively. The game that will be played on the 23rd will have the cream of the talents in the school arena representing their respective regions. Practices of the two teams had commenced a fortnight prior with a total of 90 players in each squad. Out of the bunch, a strong 25-member team will be picked within the course of the week and will be the representing their towns on the 23rd.

The big names of the school rugby arena such as Omalka Gunarathna, Kevin Dixon and Lasindu Ishan will most likely be playing in the Colombo jersey while Reeza Raffaideen, Saranga  Gunathilake and Dilan Neuman are expected to turn up for Kandy.
