Sangeeth Cooray’s double ton puts Colts in control

Two matches of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Major League ended today, while Colts took control of their match against Moors SC when stumps were drawn on day two.

Former St. Sebastian’s College batsman, Sangeeth Cooray hit a superb double hundred to put Colts well in control of their match against Moors SC. His knock included 28 hits to the rope and one over it as Colts made 463 all-out in their first innings.
Left arm tweaker Sandakan Pathirana bowled a marathon spell of 48 overs, capturing 8 wickets for 184 runs for Moors.
Moors in reply, ended day two on 208/7 with Irosh Samarasuriya, Pabasara Waduge and Chamara Silva making half centuries.

BRC vs Badureliya SC 
Shiran Rathnayake’s maiden first class century saved Badureliya from the jaws of defeat as they ended on 313/9, in pursuit of 348 for an outright win. The significance of his innings was that he hit only six fours in a knock that tested his patience and lasted 156 balls.
The Ramanayake brothers bowled their hearts out, sharing five wickets among them, but it wasn’t enough to push BRC to victory though they managed to secured first innings points by a single run in a thrilling game of cricket.
Rathnayake got good support from Dilhan Cooray who hit a brisk 61 as the duo helped Badureliya avoid an outright win. Skipper Alankara Asanka picked up eight wickets in the match for Badureliya SC.

Saracens vs Bloomfield 
Pramod Maduwantha’s twin half centuries made sure Saracens SC recorded a crucial first innings win over Bloomfield.
Bloomfield made a fight back when they bowled Saracens out for 182 in their second innings thanks to a five wicket haul from Malith De Silva, but ran out of time to get to their victory target of 210.
Bloomfield ended the day on 73/1 with their skipper Nipun Karunanayake remaining unbeaten on 53*. Karunanayake also made a half century in the first innings.
