Sadeera Samarawickrama has been added to the Sri Lanka ODI & T20I squad,  to play hosts New Zealand, replacing injured Angelo Mathews, ThePapare.com learns.

Mathews, sustained the hamstring injury, while attempting to take a run during Sri Lanka’s second innings of the second test match played against New Zealand at Christchurch.

23-year old Samarawickrama, who was also a part of the 17-man Test squad which lost the two-match Test series 1-0 last Sunday will stay back in New Zealand for the limited overs leg of the tour starting this Thursday (3rd January) in Mount Maunganui.

Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand 2018/19 Fixtures 

Stylish right handed batsman was part of the Sri Lanka ODI squad which played England last October at home. He opened the batting alongside Niroshan Dickwella in the last three ODIs and scored an impressive half-century in the final ODI, the only match Sri Lanka won in the series.

Sri Lanka will play three ODIs and one T20I match in New Zealand under the new leadership of fast bowler Lasith Malinga.
