Sri Lanka ‘A’ had to share the one day series 1-1 with Bangladesh ‘A’ as the third and final unofficial one day match in the 3-match series was called off due to rain at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh.
Due to the prevailing weather conditions, umpires decided to hold a 45-over contest. Sri Lanka ‘A’ skipper Thisara Perera won the crucial toss for the third consecutive time in the series and opted to bat first at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Wicketkeeper Batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama returned to the side replacing Lahiru Thirimanne and left arm seamer Isuru Udana replaced wicketkeeper batsman Minod Bhanuka.

Upul Tharanga and Sadeera Samarawickrama opened the innings for Sri Lanka ‘A’ but they could not stay together at the crease for a long time as the former was dismissed for just 1 run in the second over of the innings. Then the in-form right handed batsman Ashan Priyanjan joined Sadeera Samarawickrama at the middle and struck a 130-run partnership for the second wicket.
Bangladesh ‘A’ edged out Sri Lanka ‘A’ by 2 runs ….
Sadeera Samarawickrama was trapped in front by right arm seamer Khaled Ahmed going back with a well-made 75 runs off 83 balls. Ashan Priyanjan stroked 53 runs off 62 balls at a strike rate of 85.48 including 5 boundaries. After the dismissals of Sadeera and Priyanjan, the middle order collapsed and saw them struggling at 136 runs for 5 wickets. However, skipper Thisara Perera and right hander Shammu Ashan showed some resistance with the bat building a valuable 49-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
Shammu Ashan ran himself out for 15 runs when the score was at 185 runs in the 37th over. Thisara Perera stroked 44 runs off 44 balls with 5 boundaries but was dismissed in the 40th over with five overs remaining in the innings. However, Sri Lankan speedster Shehan Madushanka showed his batting skills again with a knock of 29 runs off 25 balls including 2 fours and 1 six.

Sri Lanka finished their innings at 240 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 45 overs. Left arm spinner Sunzamul Islam was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh ‘A’ as he grabbed 4 scalps for 24 runs. Right arm seamer Khaled Ahmed supported him well picking up 2 wickets for 42 runs.
Chasing 241 runs to win, left handed Sunzamul Islam and right handed Saif Hasssan opened the innings for Bangladesh ‘A’ but they could last only 3.2 overs in the middle as the rain interrupted the match again. Umpires had to call off the match as the rain persisted for a long period of time thus the series was shared by the two teams 1-1.
