Royal College, Colombo and St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa managed to cement their places in the final of the Singer Schools ‘Under 15 Division 1’ Cricket Tournament 2018, defeating Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa and Mahanama College, Colombo respectively in their semifinal matches.

The Royal College skipper won the toss and had no hesitation to bat first on a batting friendly surface at St. Joseph’s college Grounds in Maradana. The Royal batsman put on a massive total of 372 runs for 6 wickets in their first innings. Sadeesha Rajapaksha stroked a brilliant century for Royal College. In addition, Dasis Manchanayake (60), Uvindu Weerasekara (58) and Ashen Gamage (55) chipped in with half-tons.

For Prince of Wales, Aditha Imasha was the pick of the bowlers grabbing 3 scalps for 80 runs. The Match ended in a draw, but Royal College qualified for the final of the tournament by recording more bonus points than Prince of Wales College.

St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa vs Mahanama College, Colombo

The 2nd semi-final between St. Sebastian’s College and Mahanama College was worked off today at Taxila College Grounds in Horana. After winning the toss the Sebastian’s’ skipper decided to bat first, and they went on to make 209 runs for the loss of 7 wickets before declaring their first innings. Sandeep Fernando top scored with a knock of 65 runs, while Sanesh Fernando chipped in with a valuable 43 runs for the lads from Moratuwa.

St. Sebastian’s dominate St. Peter’s in a drawn encounter

The 3rd Quarterfinal of the Singer Under 15 Division I Tournament between St Peter’s College,

Inuka Karannagoda and Devinda Kakirideniya starred with the ball for Mahanama College picking up 2 wickets each. In reply, Mahanama College could only post 72 runs for the loss of 4 wickets before the umpires called stumps for the day. The Match ended in a draw, but St. Sebastian’s College managed to qualify for the final of the tournament on bonus points.
