Here’s a round up of the matches which took place in the SLC Super U19 Provincial tournament today. 

Uva Province vs Central Province

Central province won the toss and elected to field first. Uva managed to post 215 runs in their allocated 50 overs. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals which didn’t allow them to reach a bigger score. Sashika Dulshan was the top scorer with an unbeaten 65. Chethaka Denuwan and Lakila Tehan chipped in with valuable cameos. Kasun Karunathilake and Thimira Supun shared 2 wickets each.

The chase was fairly easy first up but the loss of wickets made the job harder. Mohommad Absal batted superbly at the top for 59 runs but the match winning knock came from Ravishka Upendra who scored an unbeaten 80 to guide his team to a 3 wicket victory.

North Western Province vs Western Province South

North Western took on Western Province South today at the NCC grounds. North Western won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to grind out 225 runs in their 50 overs with Samith Dilshan and Nipun Dhanajaya scoring half centuries. Sanoj Dharshika was the pick of the bowlers for Western Province South with 5 for 29.

The run chase was made difficult for the Westerners thanks to some brilliant bowling by North Western bowling attack. Apart from Shehan Dilshan and Chamil Mishara who showed some fight with the bat, the other batters couldn’t contribute much. Kaveen Bandara and Pubudu Ganegama shared 2 wickets each. Western Province South was bundled out for 158 which gave North Western a 67 run victory.

Western Province North vs Southern Province

Asel Sigera’s all-round heroics helped Western Province North a 53 run victory at Panagoda. Southern won the toss and elected to field first. Asel scored a blistering 70 which propelled Western Province North to 277 in their 50 overs. Ashan Fernando scored 67 at the top order for the Westerners.

In reply Southern Province failed to keep up with the required run rate which put added pressure on their batters. Dhanajaya Lakshan top scored with 85 while Ravindu Sanjana scored 52 but it was all in vain as they were bundled out for 224 runs. Western Province South won the match by 53 runs.

Western Province Central vs North Central Province

Western Province Central took on North Western Province at Surrey Grounds. Western Central won the toss and elected to bat first. Their star studded batting line up fired as they managed to post 295 all out in 49 overs. Sawan Prabash and Iranga Hashan scored half centuries while the rest of the top order chipped in with cameos.

North Central in reply was in the hunt and at one stage were 157 for 3. Kavindu Madarasinghe top scored with 69 runs but it proved insufficient at the end as they could only reach 226 for 8 at the end of the 50 overs. Suhanga Wijewardane was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 38. Western Province Central registered a 69 runs victory.
