Middlesex SC edged out Old Duthians while Pioneer survived a nervy penalty shootout as Ratnam, Geli Oya and Rathmalana United also progressed to the next round in the 2016 Premier League Division II encounters.

Old Duthians SC (Badulla) v Middlesex SC (Rathnapura)

Middlesex SC defeated Old Duthians 1-0 at the Vincent Dias Stadium in Badulla.

It was Mohamed Rizvi who scored the winner just before half time in the 41st minute with C.Weerasekara and D.M.N.Dilshan receiving yellow cards for the losers.


St.Anthony’s (Trincomalee) v Pioneer (Kinniya)

Pioneer SC won the match 1-0 on penalties after it ended in a goalless draw at normal time at the Ehamparam Ground in Trincomalee.

In a nervy penalty shootout where there were saves and misses, it was Mohamed Rashan who kept his cool to score the decisive penalty.


Colpitty United v Ratnam SC

Colpitty United were trounced 6-0 by Ratnam SC at Cooray Park in Wellawatta.

However, Ratnam, who are looking to go into the division I, were only leading 1-0 at half time thanks to a goal from N.A.Manuel in the 39th minute.

S.S.Kumar added the 2nd in the 56th minute and Dinesh gifted a goal to Ratnam four minutes later with an own goal. C.Jhon made it 4-0 in the 65th minute while S.D.Jayasekara scored the 5th in the 77th minute and K.K.Tiagou scored the final goal in the 82nd minute.


Small Drydron SC (Hatton) v Gelioya FC (Gampola)

Geli Oya FC continued their goal scoring spree with a 5-0 thrashing of Small Drydron SC from Hatton at the Norwood Play Ground in Hatton.

For Geli Oya from Gampola it was Mohamed Fahis who was the star with a hat-trick as he opened the scoring in the 7th minute.

Ten minutes later O.D.Erans scored the 2nd goal as the scores stayed the same until half time.

In the 2nd half it was a three goal burst between the 75th and 85th minutes that put the game to bed. Fahis added his 2nd in the 75th minute and Raju scored the 4th of his team two minutes later.

Fahis completed his hat-trick in the 85th minute.


Rathmalana United SC v Barberian SC (Beruwala)

Rathmalana United won 4-3 on penalties after the match ended 0-0 in normal time at the Zahira Grounds in Dharga Town.

For Rathmalana United it was H.S.C.Perera, A.M.G.Ekanayaka, S.S.N.Priyankara, D.N. Rathnakumara scoring the penalties and M.H.M.Shaheem, Dhanusha Perera, P.R.T.Nandasiri scored for the losers.
