Prasad Wimalasiri adds a Bronze to the medal tally

Long Jumper Prasad Wimalasiri capped off the 8th Asian Indoor Chamionship for Sri Lanka with a Bronze medal when he recorded 7.67m in the Men’s Long Jump.

Wimalasiri recorded a distance of 7.55 in the qualification round and was the overall second in the heats. In the showpiece final Shi Yuhao of China won Gold with a distance of 8.16m with Li Hung Min of Taipe securing the Silver medal. Wimalasiri’s 7.67m earned him a much-deserved Bronze medal.

With the Bronze medal won by Wimalasiri , Sri Lanka ended up with a total of 4 medals , earlier in the day, Gayanthika Abeyrathne won a Gold Medal in the Women’s 1500m while Upamalika Rathnakumari won Bronze in the Women’s 400m.  Nimali Liyanarachchi opened the account for Sri Lanka with a bronze medal in the women’s 800m with Wimalasiri capping off a successful tour for the Sri Lankan contingent in Tehera, Iran.
