Ports Authority bags first win in Asian Club Championship

Sri Lanka Ports Authority defeated Yan Chai from Hong Kong 3 sets to 1 in their last playoff 9th-13th match in Pool G in the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in Vietnam.

Ports Authority needed this win if they were to have any hopes of finishing in 9th place after a disappointing pool A campaign where they lost two close encounters.

Ports Authority won the first set 25-20 and secured the 2nd set comfortably with a 25-17 score line. However, Yan Chai displayed a strong challenge to win the hotly contested 3rd set 25-27. Ports Authority recovered from the 3rd set loss to win the 4th set 25-19 and close out the match.

Skipper Janitha Surath scored a match-high 22 points for Sri Lanka Ports Authority. Lasindu Methmal Wasanthapriya and Rumesh Dissanayake contributed 20 and 16 points respectively. Lee Man Sing led Yan Chai with 14 points.
