A media briefing to announce the actions taken by SLC on the alleged ‘’Pitch Fixing’’ incident was held at the Sri Lanka Cricket headquarters on Monday, the 28th of May.

Mr. Ayesh Weerakkody (Manager- Anticorruption & security), Mr. Mohan De Silva (Vice President-pillar Head of Domestic Cricket), Air Commodore Roshan Biyanwila (Secretary-SLC) and Mr. Ashley De Silva (CEO- SLC) were present to address the media regarding the accusations made by the Al Jazeera Media Network.

“It has definitely created a bad impact on our organization and the country. But we have taken all the necessary steps and want to show the world that we have no tolerance for such behavior.” – said the CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Mr. Ashley De Silva.

According to the video footage received from the Al Jazeera Media Network, SLC have so far suspended three individuals in Tharindu Mendis (SLC- Colombo District Coach), Jeevantha Kulantunga (SLC- Western Province Coach) and Tharanga Indika (Galle Stadium-Assistant Manager).

Mr. Mohan De Silva stated that “We have suspended Jeevantha Kulatunge, Tharindu Mendis and Tharanga Indika who are connected with SLC after going through the footage that has come through. Dilhara Lokuhettige has moved to Australia, therefore we have nothing to do with him anymore.”

Mr. De Silva further added “We are not allowed to carry out any investigations as an organization according to the ICC protocols. We only can support the ICC during these investigations and we will give them all available information to carry out the investigations.”

Meanwhile SLC appointed a three-member committee consisting of Mr. Mohan de Silva, Air Commodore Roshan Biyanwila and Mr. Channa Weerakkody to submit a report within three days, making recommendations on the existing protocols; applying to the Management and Staff of every venue and to implement safeguards to prevent occurrences of such incidents in the future.
