Visakha Vidyalaya bagged their second overall Novices championship of the year at the Novices Swimming and Diving Championship 2019, organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatics Sports Union.

The tournament took place over the course of three days (15th – 17th March) with the participation of over 2000 youngsters taking to the water.

Winners of the recently concluded School’s Novices Championship, Visakha Vidyalaya made no mistake in grabbing the Girls’ overall team championship, over 47 other schools and clubs. Their final aggregate score was a staggering 166 points.

Day 1 Results

Ladies’ College ended their run in the championship in second place with 88.50 points while KDU and Stafford International College emerged 3rd and 4th, with 76 and 73 points respectively.

In the boys’ category, Sri Lanka Navy clinched gold with a total of 140 points. Polonnaruwa Aquatic Sports Club finished 2nd with 82 points and the school by the sea, S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia settled with bronze finishing up with 65.50 points.

The next swimming event on the calendar is the Junior National Short Course Swimming Championship 2019, which is scheduled to commence on the 29th March at the Isipathana Swimming Complex.
