The much awaited Netball Junior National Championship is scheduled to be held on the 4th and 5th of June at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
The tournament, which was postponed a number of times, was scheduled to be played on the 28th and 29th of May, however owing to the prevailing inclement weather, was pushed back to early June.
The tournament organizers are expecting up to 20 teams to participate in the event, with each district expected to field 2 teams.
This championship will also serve as somewhat of a talent search effort as the Sri Lanka Youth Netball team prepares for the World Youth Netball Championships to be held in Bosnia in 2017.
The Youth Netball team qualified for the World Championships as a result of being Crowned Asian Champions earlier this year. Runners-up Malaysia and 3rd place Thailand are the other teams from the region to qualify for the global contest.
Trials for the World Youth Championship are expected to be held by the end of the year.
