Relegation threatened Negombo Youth stormed their way out of trouble in a commanding 4-0 win against Crystal Palace, whose Super 8 hopes faded away at the Jayathilake Stadium in Nawalapitiya in the Dialog Champions League group A encounter.

Rain accompanied the match start and it was slow play for the first 15 minutes of the game due to the slippery ground conditions.

Crystal Palace forwards Anjana Wickramasinghe, Isaac Aba and Negombo Youth’s Bright Acooty missed chances after being deemed off-side by the linesman.

In the 23rd minute Anjana got a long range effort to the posts from outside the box and visitors goalkeeper Vimukthi Maduwantha saved it with a clearance punch.
