Their openers Lahiru Udara and Hasitha Boyagoda fell early on but Sri Lanka Limited overs specialist Upul Tharanga seemed in fine nick during his half century.

Man in form Angelo Perera struck some delightful boundaries before he was dismissed unfortunately for 59, but the NCC batsmen continued to score over four runs per over putting the soldiers under pressure.

Nissanka in-fact went on to remain unbeaten on 188* as NCC ended the day on 466/5 in 90 overs. Nissanka’s 228 ball marathon effort included 24 boundaries as he put NCC well in control and could be the first double centurion of the 2018/19 season.
